1892 - 1981. Studied botany at the Royal College of Science in South Kensington. Later went on to be a writer. He joined the RAF in 1939 using this experience to write his book 'War in the Air' published in 1941. He moved to France in 1970. His first wife was Rachel Alice Marshall, daughter of W C Marshall (architect). They had 2 sons. . He opened a book shop in 1919 with Francis Birrell near to Gordon Square.
